Hello everyone and welcome back!
I’d like to talk about a new project which was born more than one year ago and finally I’m able to share.
This project was born for a short film which, sadly, never saw the light. However the skirt was almost done and I had to make a matching bodice to not waste all the fabric I already bought.
Since I really like to make my project also functional (and not just to take photos with it) I was able to find an event in which a black outfit was required. After this short introduction I present you the new bodice you can find in my shop.

The inspiration behind this bodice is an illustration I found in my book Victorian Fashions – A Pictorial Archive dated 1903. It has, in fact, bishop sleeves and a very nice motif made with ribbons.
I used velveteen ribbons for that purpose and it was quite challenging to make it on a very thin wool.
I didn’t had enough time to reinforce the outer fabric but I suggest you to do it since it will simplify the work a lot.

The back closes with hook and eyes whereas the front has a fake closure embellished with covered buttons. In order to make the bodice paired with the skirt, I used the skirt wool for the buttons and I also made a matching belt. The main problem with this project was that I had not enough black wool to make a complete mourning dress, for this reason I had to insert some elements here and there to pair the skirt.
I’m not 100% satisfied with the result but the time was very short and I’m somehow happy with the final result.

In the link above you can find the sewing patterns (S-XXL) and the step-by-step tutorial for this bodice I hope you liked!
