Hello everyone and welcome back to another post!
This time I’m sharing with you the popular Scott hip pad replica I made for Edwardian underwear.
As the original label says The Scott was “especially adapted for very slight figures having no side or back hips.” This slight augmentation of a slender figure would help skirts “hang and drape gracefully.”
Since I’m not squishy and the maximum my body can take is -2 cm in waist reduction, I had to use something under the corset that could relief some pain due to the tension.
Well, this hip pad was a miracle for me and I’m not exaggerating.

The first time I worn it under the corset I didn’t feel pain in my back and hips as I normally did. I know that some of you may think that the problem is the corset but it’s not. My chest has a very small space between the lower ribs and the hip bones. I saw some photos of my colleagues’ waists (without the corset obviously) and I have to accept that mine is different and I need more padding and less waist reduction.
I did a huge mistake in the last Stresa Liberty event I attended. I reduced my waist by 5 cm and I feel pain all day long. My legs hurt, I felt some panic. Hell no!
That experience taught me that I can achieve the right silhouette with padding and feeling comfortable for hours!
In Instagram everyone that loves Edwardian era has a wonderful hourglass shape but the truth is that you have to do what it’s better for you and lace the corset where you feel it’s ok to do.
Do not go beyond that limit even if it’s just 1 or 0.5 cm in waist reduction.
Hope this helps!
